The sun is shining on snow that hasn't been too tromped up yet by dirty feet. Not a bit of wind. Fitting for a day that starts our trek to spring. Really itching to get the kids out in the snow, but with two recovering sore throats and four sniffly noses (plus maybe me!) -- it doesn't seem the wisest thing to do. Especially since everybody needs to be in tip-top health to visit great-grandma in a couple of days. We want to thrill her with our visit, not leave her with our goobers and cruddies for the new year.
I enjoyed watching Nancy (our pup) this morning in the snow. While our little dog, Naisey, avoids the drifts and deep snow, Nancy seeks out the deepest spots for walking. She walks about half the time with her nose two inches into the snow and then buries her head completely every few steps. When we got home and had wiped the floor of her wet footprints, I found her in her kennel with a Santa hat. She looked extremely guilty. "Yes, I ate Santa," she seemed to be saying. I've got the camera out to snap a picture if there is a next time.
My son is leading the little girls in costume play this morning; witches, warlocks and mermaid-like creatures. Yesterday I spent the day as a slug (a very warm & cozy, satisfied slug). Today I'm thinking about doing some house cleaning. Hubby has a tendencey to get into cleaning mode when he's on vacation. I figure it's a result of getting to spend so much time up close and personal with the mess. So why not ride that wave?

I bet Kaman is enjoying being one of the older kids this weekend! He is quite the activity director! I imagine girls will always follow Kaman anywhere!
