Timeless Tuesday

1974 - Me (top left) and my cousins.

My grandmother used to make gifts for Christmas for all the grandkids. My three cousins and I often got matching gifts since we were so close in age. One year we got these giant stuffed turtles. One year she gave us Raggedy Ann & Andy sets. As we got older, we often received old fashioned dolls. Grandma would paint the porcelain heads, arms, and legs in ceramics and then would sew fancy dresses for them. This was the year we got matching coats.

Grandma's house is a big part of the memories I have of this time of year. She lived right next door and we always had a potluck at her place with all the cousins. It felt like the gatherings were really big when I was a kid. As the cousins grew up, the gatherings got smaller and smaller.

Today I also wanted to share this really cool gift I got from my son. He made me a journal. I thougt this gift showed amazing perception on his part. The picture on the front is of Kaman, me, and the hubby.

He even numbered the pages for me. There are nine. I think this will be my favorite journal this year. I'm going to have to think of a really special focus for it -- something I can share with him.
