Three Minutes of Silence

Someday I'm going to look back on all the hub-bub and activity that goes on in my house and I will long for it. I will find the silence overwhelming. Maybe even sad. But for today, I wouldn't mind just three minutes of quiet time. Just three little minutes stacked one right on top of the other.

Things I'd forgotten about three year olds (you wouldn't think it's been so long to have forgotten).

  • Tiny, three-year-old hands are fun to hold, especially when the bodies they belong to are skipping happily down the sidewalk and singing jingle bells over and over again.
  • Three-year-olds are a good lap size, and when they are feeling warm and snuggly, they make you want to take a nap.
  • Even the ducks at the zoo are way cool to a three-year-old.
  • The word 'later' probably means a minute or two from now.
  • When you are three, everything you say sounds like a song (that's especially true with these girls)
  • Even the little things, like a missing glove or a chair moved slightly in the wrong direction, can signify the end of the world.

I think my three minutes are up now. Time to go join the fun again.
