Yesterday I found myself driving a woman I don't even know to her job. It was a small thing for me. Her place of work wasn't that far away and I needed to get out of the house to run a quick errand anyway.
In the short five minutes or so it took us to get to her destination, I learned about her husband's recent suicide, her inability to return to their house (where he died - can you blame her?), her pre-teen children, and the fact that her car wouldn't start. Proof of that was in the parking area across from my house. Likely due to her recent troubles, her job was on shaky ground, as well. She couldn't be late.
Obviously she's going through some rough times.
I've been thinking about her a lot in the past 24 hours. My life is good. I have absolutely nothing to complain about.
I hope I got her to work on time.

Wow. Heavy stuff....
And... it's amazing what you can learn from a person in 5 minutes.
I know she appreciated your kind gesture this morning. :-)
I'm sure she was not only on time but I'm sure you were a bright spot in her day as well!
It is good to remember how blessed we really are!
