We found a Kansas Banana tree -- also know as the Paw Paw.
This is one of the most fascinating plants we came across, and I had never heard of it before. It is called a Compass Plant. As you can see, the leaves line up in a north/south line. They appear to be more reliable than moss on a tree.
Heading on down the trail. These trails are former railroad lines.
This is Daisy Fleabane. I don't remember that it served any practical purpose, but I thought the flowers were pretty.
The butterflies were thick. They landed on us and fluttered around us the whole time we were walking. These guys even posed for me!
I loved these dragonflies. Worked hard to get a picture of this one.
One more chance at mulberries before we call it a day. That's Dwight from Eureka who also walked the trail with us.
I don't usually censor photos of myself, but I wanted to show you the butterflies and didn't really like the rest of this picture. This is my hat. The butterflies loved me.
