Some personalities just don‘t mesh. I never felt less intelligent or more socially inept than when sitting in your classroom. Thank goodness I had the nerve to request another teacher the following year instead of having you again.
She always did seem cranky, but she still managed to come out as my favorite elementary teacher. I strongly suspect it was because she stumbled onto my love of competition, and she channeled it to push me higher than I would otherwise have bothered to go.
