Weather Watching

I must been a little stir crazy yesterday because I spent most all of the afternoon out and the cold didn't bother me one bit. The kids and I typically spend quite a bit of time on the road, usually one day a week, for playdates or group gatherings with our friends. Last year, more than once, I found myself driving home in conditions that were less than optimal. So this year I swore to myself that I would keep a better eye on the weather -- both where we are going and where we are from. I'm Kansan enough to know that there can be a blizzard on one side of the road and sun is shining on the other. Well, that's true for rain, at least.

Problem is... I have been keeping a really close eye on the weather and, therefore, have been bracing for three full days now for the spectacular ice storm that has not quite hit... yet. By noon yesterday I decided to get out of my jammies (yes, I've been in jammies for three days, waiting for the ice storm) and just get on with life. We needed milk... and more warm desert fixings... and a trampoline...

Not exactly a spur of the moment purchase. The kids have been saving since we moved here. There was a pretty good holiday sale, so we figured out a way to make it happen.

Of course, the trampoline is just sitting in the shed right now, waiting for a sunshiny day. And it IS wet outside, even icy this morning. It IS miserable. But for yesterday it stayed just warm enough that it was mostly not slick, and that made the spots that WERE icy all the more dangerous, I suppose. The little dog nearly pulled my feet out from under me when I hit one such spot on our final walk of the afternoon.

I took some pictures. Does it look cold?
