How to Spend a Cold Winter's Day... or Two

  1. Catch up on all the blogs you don't get to read much these days.

  2. Finish reading a thought-provoking book.

  3. Get the fine idea that you are finally going to catch up on your kids' baby books... then get overwhelmed when you realize JUST how behind you are... and not only that, you are classic example of a mom shafting kid number three in the record keeping department (and kid number 2, as well).

  4. Eat almost an entire plate of brownies while they are still warm.

  5. Pay some bills; balance the checkbook.

  6. Start reading a lighter, easy-to-read teen collection of short stories.

  7. Go to bed early.

  8. Get up early.

  9. Walk the dog even though you'd really rather stay warm in bed.

  10. Write long, difficult article (on assignment) that leaves you feeling as if all your hair has been pulled out.

  11. Wash some dishes by hand and enjoy the warm, running water.

  12. Read a good story to the kids.

  13. Play secretary to your son and type HIS long, but entertaining story about a kid discovering a village of Neanderthals.

  14. Help your daughter start her "twisted fairy tale" story.

  15. Bake an apple pie with help from the whole family.

  16. Eat delicious pie. Wish for more.
  17. Settle in for a mindless evening of watching television.

Yum! Apple pie is my favorite. You save a piece me for me right?

That pie looks scrumptious! And those days sound like my kind of fun! (ok, well except for the bill paying part!)

Nope. But we can make another one!!

Maddie made the crust. The rest of us peeled and chopped apples. I don't think I've enjoyed an apple pie that much ever.

Come on down to visit... I'll make you an apple pie.
