Weather Watching

The rain has certainly put a damper on our near-regular Sunday morning trips to the track. When I finally pulled myself out of bed this morning (I always reserve one day a week to just stay in bed and a rainy day seems like the perfect day for it) I found the rest of the family sitting outside under the awning just watching the rain. It was cool and pleasant. Our little fish pond is starting to look like quite the yard ornament as middle kid and I spent much of Saturday completing the rock work around it and we planted some flowers and heirloom tomatoes from the Farmer's Market.

I get paranoid about all my electronics when storms are passing through so we have spent much of the day with everything in the house unplugged. We seem to be on the edge of the storms, but the thunder and lightening get exciting now and then and the rain has been pretty much constant all day. It's going to take more than a few days of sunshine to dry out the yard and the sandbox.

I'm feeling a little restless and I think the kids are feeling it too. I miss that bike ride. I've been pouring over news reports of the damage in Greensburg. It's a town I've driven through hundreds of times in my life and it just makes me sad to think of all the people who have lost their homes and businesses. One of my recent web clients is in Greensburg, so I have a fairly fresh picture of the town in my head since I was just there in March. Without that little trip, I probably wouldn't have much more in my memory than the world's largest hand-dug well. I must have been in high school the last time I visited it.

Sounds like the thunder is getting closer again. I've been invited to play a game of Harry Potter on the GameCube. I suck at it, but it's nice that they still ask me to play. Hubby brought me some chocolate home from the store. He's so good. I'm a lucky girl.

I suck at all of the GameCube games but it is nice to still be invited to play!
Hope you dry out soon! (The rain finally stopped here this evening but the yard is still soggy!)

Of course, I commented too soon! The rains began again a little after I commented and yesterday, I found about an inch of water in our basement! (We're still cleaning that up!)

Oh, well. People in Topeka have water in their basements over their washer/dryers and of course, people in Greensburg would likely be thrilled to just have water in their basement! I'm counting my blessings.
Hope you're keeping dry!
