Being a native western Kansan, I am thrilled just about every time I see water in this other half of the state. I'm amazed at how much it rains here. I'm constantly pointing out every pond, stream and lake I see to the kids as we drive. "Look! Water! Water!"
You have to remember that the Arkansas River bed where I grew up (Dodge City) was dry for the first 18 years or so of my life.
This is a photo of the river here... a few months ago when the cousins were visiting (note the bridge).
Same bridge yesterday.
And today...
The "old bridge" from the vantage we are accustomed to.
Here's a view of the "old bridge" yesterday.
And today...from the other side.
Another view yesterday.
And today...
And finally, the parking lot yesterday.
And today... I tried really hard to give these two pictures identical crops.
Water... Amazing stuff, isn't it?

Great job of showing the actual water rising! It was an amazing weekend wasn't it? Our waters have receeded around here - moved on down NW of Wichita.
Hubby is in Greensburg today. Two company co-workers lost everything. They are helping them find valuables and prepare for clearing out. The president will be there, too, today. I doubt their paths cross. LOL
Cool pics! The Kansas River runs behind our house. We were out to see it two days ago, just out of curiosity. We had expected it to be high, but had not even remotely expected what we saw! I was wishing I had my camera.
Great pics! It has been quite a week, hasn't it?!
Our basement is (finally) dry--and we aren't in a flooded area!
BTW--I've tagged you!
