The lusty month of May!
That lovely month when ev'ryone goes
Blissfully astray.
Yes, I'm a fan of Camelot, the musical, but May Day really makes me think of flowers... lilacs, specifically. As a kid, I remember making little paper cone baskets and filling them with the lilac blooms that lined our drive. I would deliver them to my grandmother next door, my aunt, the schoolbus driver, and anyone else who might appreciate flowers.
My mom always hoped that the lilacs would be blooming for graduations and confirmations. There were years when the timing was perfect. More often it seemed like they bloomed a bit early. I miss the smell of lilacs in the springtime.
In May of 2003, the lilacs at my dad's place were blooming beautifully. Bushes liked this lined both sides of the driveway in the house I grew up in. There were a few white lilacs, too, but most of them were lavender. Can you believe how little and cute those kids were?

I'll never forget the lilacs at your folks' place. The site of lilacs always brings their farm mind for me. We had some great times at your place with those lilacs blooming!
correcting myself ... "to mind for me!"
