Though usually it's worth it to just stay home and get it messy again.
So on Monday I had my little breakdown over the fish and on Tuesday I cleaned house. Didn't really intend to clean house. Not the whole thing, anyway. But it started with Maddie wanting to have a "fancy" dinner and that meant we had to clean off the table. This is the kid who often gets into the process of cleaning so before I knew it, she was leading me from room to room and we were sweeping under and over and in between and just enjoying ourselves along the way.
The floors were even mopped... all of them! And not just one kid was mopping, but two! By the time we had finished the kitchen, project room, and living room, we were so heady with all we had accomplished that we decided to take on the laundry room/porch area, as well. On my own I would have quit before I got that far (which explains why the laundry room/porch area is always such a mess), but it was such a joy to be hanging out with my middle girl that I decided if she was up for it, I could be too.
Good day, but all that cleaning WORE ME OUT!
Today I could have easily stayed home and in bed. The weatherman almost had me convinced that we were going to get major thunderstorms, but he was wrong. The kids REALLY wanted to go play with friends in Topeka, so we went, and it turned out worth it for me, as well... as always.
Bonus -- got home this evening to a STILL-CLEAN-HOUSE.
