What happened to last week?

What happened to April?

The cat is just forgiving me, as I type this, for being gone the last three days. Having a cat between me and the keyboard makes things more difficult, but now that she's sitting here and rubbing her cold nose against my chin, I don't want to jump up and run her off.

The kids and I visited Peeper Ranch (a very NICE horse ranch... in fact, I'm not sure the horses from my childhood would have recognized the "barn" as a barn... I know I almost didn't). We also visited Moon Marble in Bonner Springs which has long been on our list of things to do.

We stayed with the Magoo family and hit the zoo on Saturday. All in all, a very good and full weekend.

That wasn't all, however. On Sunday we made it to the Missouri side of Kansas City to help the in-laws celebrate 42 years of marriage. 42!!! I wasn't even born yet! It's not often, these days, that I get to say that.

They each wrote a statement, a sort of renewal of their vows and it was lovely. Brought tears to my eyes. They give me hope. Not just for the hubby and I, who are on our way to completing seventeen years and I'm sure will be crossing that 40 year mark before I know it. But they give me hope for the world in general. When you look at all the crap that happens and all the people who suffer through broken marriages, broken lives... it's nice to look around and see that there are still folks who know how to love.
