A good friend who is also a homeschooling mother was asking me about finding/making time to write with kids around. One of her frustrations was that as soon as she hit that zone where the words were just flowing, a kid would show up with a question or project that required her attention.
My advice?
When the kids are off doing their own thing, really engaged in their own projects… well, that’s NOT the time to go clean the kitchen or fold laundry. Sit your butt in the chair and WRITE!
In other words, when you visit my house and the kitchen is a mess… feel free to congratulate me for all the writing I’ve been getting done ;-)
