now that I’m not a little kid anymore

My son “wrote” this a couple of months ago. Writing, for him, is still about dictating to Mom as she types everything he says word for word. I loved this one so much that I read it over and over again. I thought you might enjoy reading it too. Published with permission.

When I was four I felt like there was something big along the way, but now that I’m six, there’s nothing big. The only big thing is that I’m six, now that I’m not a little kid anymore.

My favorite holiday is Christmas and Halloween. One, cause I like the candy. Two, cause I like the gifts. This Halloween that just passed was a bit more scarier than the other Halloweens. I guess it was just diferenter because apparently now that we live in a new house, which I am not happy about, lots of things have changed. One, I’m scared of monsters and ghosts. Two, this house is totally haunted. And three, well, it’s kind of out of order. I’m not used to the way things are laid out.

I’m really excited about the Christmas that’s coming up. I’m almost more excited about Christmas than I was about Halloween. At Halloween I was a gladiator. Now that Christmas is coming up, I want to dress to dress up as an elf.

When I was born, which I can’t even remember a bit, I have heard that I was born in the middle of the night at a hospital. My sister, Maddie, was born at a birthing center. My sister Evie, was born at home. I think I would have liked to have been born at home.

The first birthday I remember would have to be the one when I turned five. When I turned five it was not like most of the birthdays I had. Instead of a cake, I had cupcakes shaped exactly like a dragon and which tasted delicious.

For my sixth birthday I had a cake, but also with a cake on top. It also tasted delicious. It was kind of easy to make that cake. I started out with a cake mix and then I cracked three eggs. I think I might have put some milk and the rest I don’t really remember. The top was a bit more harder. I had to choose pans which was the real hard part. But I made my way through it and made the cake. I had it so it looked like a big race track with thousands of race cars lined up so neatly it was almost unrealistic.
