...more on mothers

A Kansas Author Club member, Naomi Patterson, has a piece in today's paper that I really enjoyed.

The question her friend asked is one I've asked myself numerous times over the years.

How long before I stop missing my mom?

Naomi's equation:

"Compute the number of consecutive days you enjoyed being together and subtract the times you drove each other crazy or made each other feel like bad mother, bad child. Then multiply by hours your mother listened, divided by the years she didn't hear. Next, factor in the warmth she wrapped around you and deduct the times she wrapped in it herself, unaware of your chill. Figure in her laughter and the sound of her voice, the tears you have shed together or alone."

I think the answer is quite simple... never.
