Here ends three full days of what dear hubby fondly likes to refer to as unbridled hedonism. I like the term. I'm thinking we should adopt such a day at least once a month or so.
So what does unbridled hedonism look like in our house?
Gifts. Egg nog. Games. Good food. A few more gifts. More games. Chocolate. More good food. Champagne. Gifts. More game playing. And food, of course.
We gave the kids their main gifts on Friday. Everyone got something practical (a robe for numero uno kid, a new gymanstics suit for numero dos, and new jams for numero tres). Then they each got something a bit more fun. Dos & tres spent most of the day "building" their gifts. We got these neat wood kits for a bird house, bird feeder, a train, a plane, and an automobile.
On Saturday we visited family, played cards, and exchanged gifts.
Today we filled our stockings and had waffles for breakfast. The kids and I all got hair dye that washes out in 8-10 shampoos, so that took up most of our morning. It was fun. The girls both ended up with different shades of red. My oldest, her hair is really dark like mine so it's hard to really change the color, but she did end up with a neat auburn-red look. We tried to go black with the little boy but his hair was far too light for the dye. It's kind of funny, he ended up with kind of a violet tint. He looks a little like he's got little old man hair, but I can't dare tell him that. He was happy to just get to play along. We may be washing his hair frequently to get him back to something a little less odd looking.
As for the hubby and I, we've spent MANY MANY hours playing his newest computer game, Civilization IV. It's addictive. The kids tell us starting tomorrow we are going to have to use a timer just like they do. They have a good point. We still have lives to live, after all.
All in all, a very relaxing and enjoyable holiday.
