I've been fighting the urge to write a "where I've been" blog entry

... and losing.

I was on something of a blog "roll" until April. Checking in a couple of times a week, at least. Now two full weeks have passed and anything that has been on my mind worth blogging about has managed to escape into the far, unreachable corners of my brain.

Luckily, I have photos to share and a quick recap of the past few weeks of activity will suffice.

In short, I've tied many, many, many bows.

I tied bows on boxes of chocolate and bows on boxes of M&Ms. I hemmed table cloths, and I tied more bows on bags of birdseed. Hubby's sister was married this past Saturday and we had a lovely time with friends and family in Kansas City. The event passed too quickly, but I am happy that all the tying of the bows has is done and over.

Let me introduce to you my lovely sister-in-law, Katherine, and her husband, Bill.

Munchkin #1 and I took hundreds of photos between us. I have decided that taking wedding photos may be one of my favorite all-time things to do. I have no desire to upgrade my equipment further, but I love capturing those moments on film. From makeup in the morning to post-reception parties... I caught everyone with smiles on at least once or twice.

Wedding weekend bonus -- my nephews from Oregon were there! The top photo is my Munchkin Boy with my very-huggable youngest nephew. The second is Munchkin #1 with my middle nephew. These are the sons of hubby's brother and their mother is one of my BFFs from junior high and high school. We don't see them nearly enough, but at least they didn't seem to think of us as strangers!

This is the oldest of my three nephews on the hubby's side.

My lovely daughters got the job of cutting cake. It looked like they were having fun. It's hard not to have fun when cake is involved.

And I'll leave you with this final, rare photo of the hubby and me. You might not recognize me. I barely recognized myself. We had our makeup done at Dillard's for the wedding and it took me three days to wash all that stuff off my face, I swear. I was assured by the makeup artist that this was the "natural" look for someone who doesn't wear makeup (that would be me). My son took one look at me and said, "WHAT did you do to your face?"

My father, on the other hand, whom I fully expected at least a bit of commentary from, just grinned at me and shook his head.

All in all -- it's been a busy couple of weeks topped by a fantastically fun weekend. Came home to writing jobs and get-togethers with friends, so I'm still struggling a bit to get my to-do list crossed and back into the swing of things. That's the report. All I've got to say for now, anyway.

P.S. Yep, the bow tying was totally worth it, but I've already told my children there will be no bows at their weddings unless they find other volunteers to do the tying.

How lovely your girls were as was their mother. Your makeup was perfect. Great picture of you and hubby. Wedding pictures are always good because all the subjects are wearing their best and enjoying the family activities together. I wish I could have seen your suit. Magoo tells me it was fabulous!
